Bhajia / Pakoda (Gram Flour Vegetable Fries)

<< What You Need >>

  • Besan – 200 gms (Gram/Chickpea Flour)
  • Red Chili Powder – 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt – as per taste (don’t take too much)
  • Green Chillies – 2-3 (finely chopped)(optional)
  • Ajwain – 1 tsp.
  • Vegetables as per choice or Paneer (Cottage Cheese) or Bread
  • Oil to deep fry
  • Water
  • Chaat Masala (Optional)

>Mix Besan(Gram Flour) with around 2 cups of water in a bowl, to form a liquid paste. > Add Red Chili Powder, Salt (To taste), ajwain and finely chopped Green Chillies to it and mix well. The Consistency of the mix should be slightly liquid.
> Now take vegetables (or Paneer) of your choice and cut them in shapes similar to French Fries or Chips
> Heat some oil in a pan to deep fry
> When the oil is heated up, then dip the Vegetables/paneer pieces in the mix and deep fry till light brown. (Remember do not over cook)
> Then remove excess oil by putting them in a plate over tissue paper
> Sprinkle Chaat Masala to add a tang (Optional)

It’s Done……

Serve hot with Tomato Ketchup Or Chutney(Indian).
Tastes best with any Cold/Hot Beverage.
And Is most enjoyed during Rains…..
